In a dusty attic at the end of Maple Lane, there lay a forgotten photograph of a girl with flowers for eyes and butterfly wings unfurled. Time had yellowed the edges, and cobwebs cradled the frame, but the girl’s gaze, obscured by petals and wings, seemed to follow anyone who dared to look. 
Evelyn, a curious soul with a penchant for the peculiar, discovered the portrait one rainy afternoon while exploring her grandmother’s house. The girl in the picture was dressed in lace and shadow, her face hidden beneath a crown of blossoms—daisies, marigolds, and cosmos bursting in colors too bright for a world so faded. Blue butterfly wings extended from either side, delicate veins etched with stories untold. 
As Evelyn wiped dust from the glass, the room shifted. Shadows grew longer, and the scent of wildflowers bloomed in the air. The wallpaper, once dull and peeling, seemed to brighten with hues of lavender and moss. 
Intrigued, Evelyn touched the frame, and a whisper, soft as petals falling, drifted through the room: “Find me.” 
That night, she dreamt of a garden hidden behind ivy-choked gates, where statues wore crowns of ivy and paths twisted through sunlit shadows. At its center stood a girl with butterfly wings and flowers for eyes, her dress woven from twilight and dawn. 
In the dream, the girl spoke without moving her lips. “They locked me away because I saw the world not as it was, but as it could be. A place where flowers bloom from sorrow and wings unfurl from longing.” 
Evelyn awoke with petals in her hair and the scent of forgotten dreams clinging to her skin. The portrait lay where she’d found it, unchanged yet different—a promise of secrets waiting to be unearthed. 

And so, each night, Evelyn returned to the garden of the forgotten girl, chasing whispers through labyrinths of roses and wisteria, piecing together a story that the world had tried to forget.
